The Migration of the Texas COAST Emissions Inventories to the SMOKE Modeling System
نویسندگان
چکیده
Emissions inventories have been processed through the Sparse Matrix Operator Kernel Emissions (SMOKE) modeling system for the Coastal Oxidant Assessment for Southeast Texas (COAST) domain. The inventories consisted of point, area and non-road sources in Emissions Preprocessor System Version 2 (EPS2) formats. The SMOKE modeling system was used to generate 2-kilometer gridded emissions estimates for use in air quality modeling. The modeling included processing inventories for two 1993 base cases, 2007 future year base cases and control strategies. The issues encountered during the migration to SMOKE are documented. Benefits of the SMOKE modeling system are summarized and future plans discussed.

The 2006 Texas Air Quality Study (TexAQS II) confirmed many of the results from the 2000 Texas Air Quality Study (TexAQS 2000). Both of these studies rank among the most extensive and comprehensive studies of their kind undertaken to date. Chief among many important findings was the discovery of the role played by certain light olefins in the rapid, intense formation of ozone in the Houston-Gal...
متن کاملDesign, Application, and Recommendations for Including Inventory Uncertaintiesin Emission Inventory Preparation for Modeling
The air quality modeling community widely acknowledges that there are considerable uncertainties in the emission inventories used for modeling. Nonetheless, these uncertainties are typically ignored in air quality modeling applications. Three reasons for ignoring these uncertainties are (1) uncertainties in model inputs typically are not well quantified, (2) emissions and air quality modeling c...
متن کاملEmissions Inventory Development and Processing for the Seasonal Model for Regional Air Quality
The Seasonal Model for Regional Air Quality (SMRAQ) project is an effort to model ozone formation and transport from May to September of 1995 for the eastern two-thirds of the continental United States using a 36-km grid resolution. The emissions inventory was derived from the 1990 and 1995 Ozone Transport Assessment Group (OTAG) inventories. This paper describes the experiences and insight gai...

In this study, various percentage of DEE was added to the optimum selected ethanol-diesel blend (D-E10) and optimized its blending ratio to overcome the poor ignition quality of ethanol when utilized in a single cylinder DI diesel engine. Some physicochemical properties of test fuels such as heating value, viscosity, and density and distillation profile were determined in accordance to the A...

The trend towards episodic modeling of environmentally-dependent emissions is increasing, with models available or under development for dust, ammonia, biogenic volatile organic compounds, soil nitrous oxide, pesticides, sea salt and chloride, mercury, and wild fire emissions. These emissions are estimated as hourly values using numerical modeling from physical principles, resulting in more rea...
